Taste of Philly began in July of 1993 as a hole-in-the-wall cheesesteak shop in Denver. With a little perseverance and a great product, a little over a decade later we grew into the largest end-user of our authentic cheesesteak meat anywhere west of the Mississippi River.
Timeline & Tidbits: - In 2006, with 6 stores open, we bought 127 tons of cheesesteak meat!
- Colorado Springs - South was our second store, and opened in 1998
- Highlands Ranch was our third store, and opened in 2001
- Colorado Springs - North became our fourth store, opening in 2005
- Also opening in 2005, Fort Collins became our fifth store
- We opened our Boulder store in 2006, and our seventh store just opened at 11th & Broadway near Capitol Hill.
- We were (and still are) one of the only vendors in Colorado who sell authentic Philly items like Tastykake® and Amoroso® Bread
- When we first started, we sliced our cheesesteak meat with ball tips
- We currently buy boxed meat specifically suited to our specifications
- Our founders are from Yeadon, PA, and lived in the Philly area until moving to Denver
